DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — Grundfos’ LFE frame-mounted end-suction pump and VLSE vertical in-line split coupled pump are now available for sale in the United States. Ideally suited for new commercial HVAC/R applications and retrofits, the fully integrated, intelligent LFE and VLSE pumping systems feature the MLE variable speed motor in ranges from 3 to 30 horsepower (HP) in 3,600 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 3 to 25 HP in 1,800 RPM. Speed control pumps like the LFE and VLSE offer energy savings of up to 50 percent.

Introduced at the 2014 AHR Expo, the LFE and VLSE offer a systems approach, which, through intelligent technology, adapt precisely to current demand to deliver performance, energy efficiency and reliability. The integrated, energy-optimized MLE system consists of a system controller, variable frequency drive (VFD) and standard asynchronous motor all in one, and can be fitted with loose sensors. Both are configured and interfaced at purchase, and their plug-and-pump design results in quick and easy installation.

The LFE frame-mounted end-suction pump is available in 21 different models and features compensated dual-volute design for reduced radial loads, minimized shaft deflection, and prolonged seal life and bearing life. Its back pull out design allows for ease of maintenance and servicing.

The VLSE vertical in-line split coupled pump is available in 24 different models and is engineered to increase efficiency and reduce radial loads. The radially split coupling allows easy replacement of mechanical seal without removing the motor and drive and its integrated frequency drive cuts planning, purchasing, installation, and commissioning costs.

“Our integrated pump systems help our customers demand more from their buildings by increasing system efficiency performance while reducing energy and lifecycle costs,” said Dennis Wierzbicki, president of Grundfos USA. “The intelligent MLE motor system greatly simplifies pump commissioning and startup for each of the models. As a pioneer of innovative pumping solutions, Grundfos is dedicated to developing the highest quality pumps and pumping systems while at the same time contributing to a better quality of life and a healthier environment.”

Both the LFE and VLSE feature Grundfos GO technology, which allows building managers to remotely control and monitor the pump from a smart phone or tablet. The GO also facilitates installation and commissioning.

“Today’s pumps need to be smart,” said Melvin Pipes, vice president of Sales for Grundfos Commercial Building Services. “The key to maximum performance efficiency is widely recognized as optimizing the whole building system with intelligent pumps. Over half of the buildings that will exist in 2050 are already here, and the new Grundfos intelligent system solutions pumps meet that urgent need today.”

The LCSE end-suction split-coupled pump, which was also showcased at the 2014 AHR Expo, will be released for sale later this month.
