Case Study

Uneven heating

Challenge

Homeowner reported that some of his radiators wouldn't get hot unless it was during a very long call for heat.

Approach

I visited the home and showed the homeowner how to follow along with his two steam mains to see how fast the steam was flowing during a call for heat. We found that one of the mains was very slow due to a main vent that had failed closed. I showed the homeowner how and why this caused the uneven heating.

Solution

I recommended a new vent and competent contractors in his area who could install it.
