Dandelion's First Geothermal Installation

Dandelion Installs its First Geothermal Installation for Founders of Large Grassroots Renewable Energy Group in Upstate New York

Today, Dandelion announces the completion of its first home geothermal installation, officially delivering renewable heating and cooling at groundbreaking affordability. The system leverages renewable energy below the ground of the house of Becky Meier and Bob Connors in Canaan, New York, just outside of Albany. The two are founders of Stop New York Fracked Gas Pipeline, an active nonprofit organization fighting fossil fuel pipelines and promoting renewable energy in the Capital District region.

Dandelion worked with its local installer partner, Aztech Geothermal, to complete the installation of a four ton system in the 2,000 square-foot home. Dandelion is making home geothermal installations affordable by introducing several process and technology innovations for marketing, drilling, financing and more. Dandelion will begin using its new proprietary drill later this month.

“We are so excited to be able to afford a geothermal system after all of our years fighting fossil fuels,” said Becky Meier. “While alternatives to fossil fuels have been available for electricity production through solar and wind power, there has not been an affordable alternative for heating and cooling our homes. Now Dandelion has provided an innovation in the clean energy sector that makes installing geothermal heating and cooling affordable. That is very exciting!”

“Dandelion’s mission is to make geothermal the go-to option for heating and cooling so that homeowners’ transition to renewable heating and cooling from fossil technology becomes inevitable,” said Kathy Hannun, CEO of Dandelion. “We’re excited that our first customers are such incredible leaders in advancing this transition forward.”
