Grundfos Products DOE Compliant
Grundfos Pumps Corporation is pleased to announce that all Grundfos and PACO branded products sold in the U.S. currently meet or exceed the Energy Conservation Standards for clean water pumps set forth by the U.S. Department of Energy. Test facilities located in Brookshire, Tex. and Bjerringbro, Denmark have been audited and approved by the Hydraulic Institute to ensure that test procedures and equipment comply with DOE and HI 40.7 standards.
The new efficiency standards set forth by the U.S. DOE are expected to reduce energy consumption significantly, with an estimated 25 percent of pumps currently sold on the market not meeting the new requirements. Beginning Jan. 27, 2020, all pumps sold in the U.S. that are within scope will be required to be labeled with a PEI rating that meets the new standard.
“I believe our greatest opportunities for environmental sustainability exist within the areas of pump efficiency and energy consumption,” said Dieter Sauer, Regional Managing Director for the Americas region. “Pumps account for 10 percent of the world’s electricity consumption and a large majority of these pumps are not optimized for their application and therefore waste energy. Technology is a critical component within our Grundfos product lines and offers our customers various means to conserve water and to use energy more efficiently. We are proud to continuously be pushing ourselves to solve the energy consumption challenge.”
