Uponor Chosen as Eco Leader by GreenBuilder Magazine
The July 2014 issue of GreenBuilder magazine features their annual Eco Leaders list, focusing on companies that are living the triple-bottom-line approach to business, focusing on people, planet and profit, and Uponor North America (Uponor) was chosen as one of the nine on the list.
The annual list highlights companies that aren't just making sustainable choices because it is a trend or it helps investor relations, but rather out of a deep sense of responsibility.
"Having a sustainable culture at Uponor extends throughout every area of our business from manufacturing to marketing to employee services," says Ingrid Mattsson, director, Brand Management, and co-founder of the company's Sustainability Team. "Being recognized by GreenBuilder for our efforts is a great honor and a wonderful validation that the work we are doing is making a difference that can be seen throughout the industry."
Uponor was in good company with other Eco Leaders on the list, including GE, Panasonic and DuPont. GreenBuilder ultimately chose Uponor as an Eco Leader due to its broad reach with sustainability efforts, including its efficiency partnership with Xcel Energy, its carbon disclosure project to reduce CO2 emissions by 15% by 2015 and even its employee benefits such as a free community garden and paid time off to volunteer with local charities.
The Eco Leader recognition is one of several accolades Uponor has received for its sustainability efforts, including the 2014 Minnesota Business Magazine Community Impact Award for Sustainability, the 2013 Manufacturer of the Year award from the Manufacturers Alliance, and the 2012 Xcel Energy Efficiency Partner Award.
Uponor, Inc. is an award-winning provider of plumbing, fire safety, radiant heating/cooling and hydronic distribution piping systems for residential and commercial applications. In 2014, the company received the Community Impact Award for Sustainability and the Progress Minnesota award for driving business growth and economic development. In 2013, the company was named Manufacturer of the Year by the Manufacturers Alliance and a Top 100 Workplace by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Uponor, Inc. employs nearly 500 people at its North American headquarters in Apple Valley, Minn.
