Steam Heating System Piping
In this excerpt from his Dead Men’s Steam School seminar, Dan Holohan looks at all of the different types of piping that you will find on steam heating systems. He talks about one-pipe steam parallel flow with a wet return, one-pipe steam parallel flow with a dry return, one-pipe steam counterflow, the Mills System, two-pipe steam with gravity return, one-pipe steam with pumped return, two-pipe steam vacuum system, two-pipe steam with air vents, and more. He explains why some boilers are on high platforms, how to build a false water line, along with other helpful tips for working with steam-heating systems.
